Resolution #13-39: Resolution of the Vernon Township Municipal Utilities Authority Authorizing the Purchase of a New MSA Multigas Detector and Battery Charger under New Jersey State Contract #A81357

Date of Adoption: September 19, 2013

WHEREAS, the Vernon Township Municipal Utilities Authority (“VTMUA”) is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of the Vernon Township Municipal Sanitary Sewer System; and

WHEREAS, as part of its maintenance obligations, the VTMUA requires the use of multigas detectors to test for LEL, oxygen, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide; and

WHEREAS, the VTMUA has been advised that one of its multi-gas detectors is no longer operable and in need of replacement or repair; and

WHEREAS, the VTMUA has determined that it is more cost effective to replace the inoperable gas detector with a new one available under State Contract #A81357; and

WHEREAS, the total cost for one (1) ALTAIR 4X Multi-gas Detector and one (1) vehicle battery charger is $900.00; and

WHEREAS, the purchase of the above described equipment does not exceed the bid threshold.

NOW THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED by the Commissioners of the Vernon Township Municipal Utilities Authority that the Executive Director is authorized to enter into a contract with Firefighter One to purchase one (1) ALTAIR 4X Multi-gas Detector and one (1) vehicle battery charger for $900.00.
