Resolution #13-41: Resolution of the Vernon Township Municipal Utilities Authority Authorizing the Purchase of Confined Space Safety Equipment

WHEREAS, the Vernon Township Municipal Utilities Authority (“VTMUA”) is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of the Vernon Township Municipal Sanitary Sewer System (“Sewer System”); and
WHEREAS, as part of its maintenance obligations, the VTMUA is required to perform work in confined spaces along the Sewer System; and
WHEREAS, working in confined spaces presents unique dangers and increased risk of injuries due to limited mobility and inadequate ventilation; and
WHEREAS, the VTMUA has need to purchase emergency rescue confined space equipment (“Equipment”) to mitigate such dangers and risks; and
WHEREAS, the desired Equipment consists of a 9' aluminum tri-pod, leg mount pulley, one-piece harness, and safety helmet; and
WHEREAS, the Equipment is presently available under Morris County Cooperative Contract #40 for the total cost of $1,780.80; and
WHEREAS, the cost of the Equipment does not exceed 15% of the bid threshold and as such, this purchase is not subject to the quotation requirements set forth in the Local Public Contracts Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:11-6.1.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commissioners of the Vernon Township Municipal Utilities Authority that the Executive Director is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with FF1 Professional Safety Services to purchase a 9' aluminum tri-pod, leg mount pulley, one-piece harness, and safety helmet for a cost not exceeding $1,780.80.
